Shop Local Campaign

Shop Local Campaign

The Love Drogheda Gift Card shop local gift card is one of the projects that has been at the top of the teams list since 2020. Since launching the gift card we have followed up the important message of “Shop Local, Shop Drogheda” with a series of social media posts and videos, highlighting the wide range of businesses available to the public and encouraging them to think local and shop local. We also launched a series of billboards repeating this message at entry points in the town.

Christmas Lighting

Christmas Lighting a first priority. Christmas lights to be totally reformed and enhanced. Our town looks like a downtrodden poor relation to most other towns in Ireland when it comes to Christmas lights

Purple Flag Status

Purple Flag Status

Gaining Purple Flag status has been one of Love Drogheda BIDS top priorities since its inception. The Purple Flag is the gold standard for night-time economy and is awarded to towns in recognition of the quality of its evening and night-time economy. The Purple Flag assessors investigate areas such as vibrancy, variety, uniqueness, safety in how people travel home after a night out as well as how the evening and night-time community in a town works together.

Parklets

Parklets

In June 2021, Love Drogheda BIDS and Louth County Council worked with City Booth, a Collon based company, to construct several parklets that were then installed all over the town. Parklets are seen as a way of creating small oases of calm on busy streets and provide a place for people to stop, sit and enjoy street activities. They convert a small number of parking spaces or sections offloading bays into open public-use spaces that support local businesses by creating green areas for passers-by to sit and interact.
