Jerry Fish accompanied by Cian Boylan, with support from SJ McArdle.
Join us on Friday 21 June, where under the shadow of the viaduct The Stowaway Sessions return as part of Boyne Midsummer Festival featuring singer, songwriter, poet and all round show man Jerry Fish. Spawned from his Electric Sideshow Electric Picnic shows which became so popular that they gave him his very own area “Fish Town" Wherever Jerry Fish goes, the circus is not far behind," he says. ”It's a monster, but I love that whole fraternity. My motto is 'unity through diversity'. In a circus, everyone mucks in.”
With two recent releases, both penned by the late Daniel Johnston; ‘The Story of An Artist’ and ‘True Love Will Find You in The End’ (feat. Wallis Bird) and a new album in the pipeline things look to get busy for Jerry.
Mr. Fish's genre bending and idiosyncratic style of entertainment has made him a household name within the Irish Music industry. With two Platinum selling solo albums, an MTV award and IRMA Music Award, and a solid reputation as a supreme and spectacular showman.
We invite you to join Jerry Fish to ‘Celebrate’ the life of Ireland’s Greatest Showman. Accompanied by Cian Boylan, Jerry will perform a mixture of his own music, Emotional Fish hits and some new material from his upcoming album.
Support on the night is our very own SJ McArdle with songs from his most recent album, Old Ghosts in the Water, inspired by the history of Drogheda Port itself. The songs were born of a year-long research and writing project around the history and stories of the ancient Port, conducted during SJ’s tenure as Artist in Association at Droichead Arts Centre in 2019.
“The songs are intriguing and evocative ... rooted in folk but coloured by expansive and imaginative arrangements.” – The Irish Times
“All the ingredients of great folk songs” – Lynette Fay (BBC)
This event will take place on a stage by the viaduct and is a seated event, it will go ahead rain or shine, so please do consider the weather and cool Irish evenings when dressing for the event. (Tickets include refreshments of a beer/wine/mineral of your choice)
The Boyne Midsummer Festival is brought to you by Scotch Hall, Drogheda Festivals, Droichead Arts Centre, Love Drogheda BID and Louth County Council with support from Drogheda Tourism Cluster, and sponsorship from Drogheda PORT.
