Expressions of Interest are now being accepted for Love Drogheda BID’s second phase of their popular Facades project, in which business owners can gain access to support and funding to improve the appearance of their facades. Aimed at rejuvenating Drogheda’s town centre through the addition of colour and a fresh vibrant look to the facades, the pilot project undertaken last year by a handful of business owners on West Street proved not only popular, but hugely effective.
Love Drogheda BID CEO, Trevor Connolly stated “We are delighted to announce that we are accepting expressions of interest for phase 2 of our Facades project. We undertook a pilot project last year, refreshing 11 facades in Drogheda’s town centre through a shared funding model with our ratepayers and the project really brightened the town centre and participating businesses. We are excited to bring fresh colour to further businesses this year and recommend that anyone interested in taking part, gets their expressions of interest in early.”

Working with local property owners and kindly supported by Murtagh’s of Drogheda, and DHS Complete Hire, the facades project has transformed several buildings across West Street and Shop Street creating a brighter, more welcoming town centre for everyone.
Sarah Taaffe, Love Drogheda BID Chairperson noted “Last year’s pilot showed the real impact small improvements can make when delivered together. There is a real momentum building in Drogheda, and projects like this are at the heart of it. As we move into phase two, we encourage more businesses to get involved. The transformation we saw on West Street and Shop Street was just the beginning and we’re looking forward to seeing even more businesses take part and help bring new fresh colour to our town centre.”

This initiative is about offering direct assistance to businesses to help ensure that our town centre is clean, attractive and shows pride of place. The facades project is one of many appearance improving targeted projects that Love Drogheda BID is rolling out over the summer months. These projects combined with the services provided by Louth County Council and the continued good work of volunteer groups such as Drogheda Tidy Towns and the Tús workers all add up and help make a massive difference to Drogheda, its appearance, community and reputation.
