Love Drogheda BID were delighted to meet with and make presentations to the elected councillors of Drogheda Borough District, at the invitation of Mayor Cllr Michelle Hall. We took this opportunity, alongside our partner organisation, the Drogheda and District Chamber, to outline the BID's priorities and strategic plans for 2026.
The session also allowed councillors to engage directly with both bodies to explore areas of collaboration and alignment in support of Drogheda’s long-term economic development.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Michelle Hall, the Mayor of Drogheda, said: “Love Drogheda BID and the Chamber of Commerce play vital roles in supporting local business, driving footfall, promoting investment, and strengthening Drogheda’s economic profile.
“It was important that, as elected representatives, we had a clear understanding of their strategic objectives and identify how we can work together more effectively for the benefit of our town.”
Thein-committee format allowed for open and constructive dialogue, ensuring that elected members and business leaders can examine shared goals, address current challenges, and identify practical steps to enhance economic resilience, job creation, and sustainable growth.
Restoring the D Hotel as a key tourism asset was emphasised by both CEOs, as footfall and overnight occupancy are seriously hindered by the lack of Drogheda's only large-scale hotel.
Cllr Hall stated that collaboration between local government and the business community will be central to positioning Drogheda as a dynamic, competitive, and forward-looking regional centre.
“Our shared focus must be on securing a strong and sustainable economic future for Drogheda. By working in partnership, we can maximise opportunities, support enterprise, and ensure our town continues to thrive.”
