The deadline for applications has been extended to 5pm Wednesday 10th July. Grants will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
Love Drogheda BID are renewing our flowering Drogheda project for 2024 to assist in bringing wonderful array of colour to our streets , supplementing the street display that is funded by Louth County Council.
We are aiming to build on the excellent floral display put on by the town of Drogheda over the last number of years as a way of showcasing our streets and creating a wonderful array of colour into our town.
This year to help support a variety of suppliers and make the scheme as attractive to all members we are creating a grant scheme of €25 per window box/ hanging basket (max per member of 8) available to all BID members with a maximum of €200 per business display. This scheme can also go towards a watering system instead at a max of €200 Euro.
· Maximum grant application for 8 units per business.
· To help ensure longevity and attractiveness of floral displays the BID would encourage all grant applicants to provide a permanent fixed, regulated and controllable drip feed watering system. Standalone systems are readily available in many garden centres & hardware stores. For larger scale, multi premises supply, the BID can provide information on the sourcing of same.
· We would appreciate if water supply is made available by the applicant from their premises or by agreement from a neighbouring premises.
· Permission from property owner and affected tenants is secured by applicant businesses
· Cost of installing flowers/ water is undertaken by the applicant
· Love Drogheda BID is not liable for any insurance provision
· Each Business is responsible for sourcing and organising their own flowers this year and a receipt should be submitted to the BIDs office with a picture of the flower installations to be applicable for the grant which will be given as a refund.
· Our maximum allocation per basket/ window box is €25 per basket, this does not restrict businesses to this costing.
· There will be a capped allocation on this initiative, and it will be supported on a first come first served basis.
Love Drogheda BID will not be in a position to undertake to install any units or be responsible for same once installed. We would advise when organising any installation that consideration is given to arranging the subsequent removal of the flowers at the end of the season, typically in the month of October/ November.
We have been advised that any installed watering scheme should have a back flow regulator installed to ensure contamination of the public water supply cannot occur.
All watering systems should be drained for the winter season to protect against frost. If a system is to be left ‘live’ over the winter to water winter flowers, consideration should be given to insulate the supply against frost.
