Love Drogheda BID (Business Improvement District) have commended the organisers and participants of this year’s Drogheda 10k, which took place from West Street on Sunday 3rd May and saw hundreds of runners participate and their supporters line the streets to cheer them on. Shortly after the main runners had taken off, the kids took over and completed the “Little Legends Dash” with treats for all the finishers.

The scenic route took participants out of town from West Street, across Dominic’s bridge, up the Rathullen Hill, out through the wooded areas approaching Oldbridge, where runners turned and followed the river Boyne back into town, a scenic reentry into the town. Before they took off, runners were treated to music and a guided warm-up alongside great supportive atmosphere. Finisher medals for this year’s event featured an attractive motif of Millmount museum.

“The Drogheda 10k is a brilliant event for our town” said Love Drogheda BID CEO Trevor Connolly. “Every year hundreds gather in the town centre to either participate or cheer a loved one on. The crowds and atmosphere are always electric, and Love Drogheda BID are proud to sponsor the event once again this year. A massive congratulations is due to the organisers, other sponsors, supporters and of course the runners for completing the challenge.”
Love Drogheda BID arranged for the Drogheda Groove Movement to play a DJ set during the event, to encourage runners and entertain the crowds of supporters, and we want to extend a massive thank you to them for adding to the atmosphere. An official 10k afterparty was held in Peggy Moore’s after the race, with participants and their families celebrating the achievement. Congratulations again to all the participants and organisers on delivering another excellent event for Drogheda.
