Night Moves | Culture Night 2025 | Late Night Programme

An innovative late night flagship programme produced by Droichead Arts Centre supported by The Arts Council Culture Night Late Award in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Louth County Council Night Time Economy Advisor, Drogheda Purple Flag, in collaboration with a number of curators. Aligned with the Late-Night Events strategy, this dynamic programme builds on the success of the recent NIGHT Moves over 2024 and 25, & will further provide new & engaging intergenerational night-time cultural experiences in Drogheda across accessible public &shared spaces, including buildings not normally used for the arts. It is ambitious, with innovative and experimental programmes. It supports artists& creatives, in partnership with a variety of businesses and buildings, whilst targeting diverse audiences.
NIGHT POOLS: Designed and Curated by Artist Vivienne Byrne A light installation trail that celebrates the natural connection between Louth and Meath. Using video projection, sound and light sculpture, the richness of the natural habitats will be celebrated. Five outdoor urban projections will be presented in varying sizes and shapes, from small watery pools of light to large single projections. Bringing light to dark spaces, urban living with rural landscape offering a fresh narrative for Drogheda. The installation of over 20lanterns in shop fronts will accompany the trail, culminating in a Light Sculpture outside the Methodist Church in Lawrence St. created with artists Breda Marron and Yvonne Dowd Gardiner.
NIGHT ART AT THE KIOSK -TRACINGS Curator/artist Brian Hegarty will collaborate with visual and sound artist Daire Lennon to curate innovative audio-visual interventions that engage both the audience and the environment. The project will feature a spatial audio sensory installation at the KIOSK project space, complemented by various interactive installations throughout Drogheda at McAllisters, The Old Choice Building and Big Moon Records, creating an outdoor gallery of sorts, culminating in an alternative DJ set outside Big Moon Records in Lawrence Street.
LATE NIGHT CAFÉS
Championing a more diverse night-time offering, animating local cafes, with music, opera, and spoken word across Il Forno, Bare Food, Loaf'd and Coffee Box curated by SJ McArdle and Boyne Tradfest. Artists include SJ McArdle, Drogheda Creative Writers, Sarah O Brien, Inis Hartigan, and Derek Murphy, and Patrick O Loughlin and Fergus McGorman, and Sonaírí, featuring Amie Dyer, and David Corr. NIGHT BOOKS Come join Cailleach Books for a late-night pop-up party at Ariosa Coffee! We are transforming Drogheda's beloved coffee spot into a community bookshop with an exciting selection of zines, book objects and poetry pamphlets to browse and purchase on the night. Step in for a coffee and discover the latest experimental and DIY publishing from Ireland. Dagogo Hart, spoken word artist and poet will join us at 10pm, to read some of his work. NIGHT MARKET Spiral will create a diverse & inclusive space to showcase and embrace a variety of art and creativity, this midnight market in McHughs will feature local crafts, artists, makers and music.
NIGHT TRAIL
Experience the best of Culture Night with guided Night Trail tours at 10pm and 11pm with Grainne Rafferty.
Grainne will introduce you to the outdoor urban projections, Night Art at the Kiosk, poet/spoken word artist Dagogo Hart will perform some of his work at Big Moon Records, and you will also be able to pop into Cailleach Books at Ariosa Cafe, a community bookshop with an exciting selection of zines, and book objects and pamphlets. On the 11pm tour, you can drop into Bare Food Cafe to hear singer songwriter SJMc Ardle perform.
You will finish the trail at the Spiral Night Market in McHughs ,featuring local crafts, artists, and makers and music. And you can join or leave the trail at any point to explore the events in your own solo adventure.
