Louth County Council have announced "Brigid 1500: ‘Louth Birthplace of Brigid’," a programme of events and initiatives to honour the life and legacy of Brigid. The programme of events will include festivals to live theatre performances, illuminated visual displays, exhibitions, craft workshops and dedicated school projects.
In addition, and to help the county get into the festive spirit, Louth County Council have also announced the "Brigid 1500 retail Window Decoration-Scheme" to retail businesses to allow them to join the celebrations of the life of Brigid by dressing their retail spaces for the occasion.
To qualify, windows must be dressed in the theme of St. Brigid/Brigid the Goddess.
If an applicant is successful, the window decoration must be on display from 5pm on Friday, 26th January 2024 until 5pm on Tuesday, 6th February 2024.
Eligible works may include internal and external window dressing in the theme of St. Brigid/Brigid the Goddess.
Successful applicants will be eligible for a grant of up to 90% of costs with a maximum grant available of €300.
The scheme will be open for applications from Wednesday 25th October, 2023, and the scheme will close at 12 noon on Friday, 26th January 2024.
All approved works must be completed by Friday, 26th January 2024 and all final claims for payment must be submitted by Friday, 16th February 2024.
