There is no doubt that hospitality was one of the sectors that faired the worse after the restrictions put in place because of the Covid 19 pandemic. First to close and last to reopen, the fine restaurants, bars, nightclubs, hotels and entertainment venues here in Drogheda town began reopening in early 2022 and with that came on opportunity to focus the spotlight on the people and businesses that make up the hospitality offerings of the town. Love DroghedaBIDS commissioned a series of videos looking at some of the unique culinary options available in Drogheda and getting to know the chefs behind the amazing food.

Alongside the local teams of Drogheda Festivals Committee, Boyne Valley Trails as well as Louth County Council and Fáilte Ireland, Love Drogheda BIDS were delighted to partake in the Púca Festival 2021. From October 23rd to 31st a series of music, arts, theatre, dance and storytelling events were held to celebrate Ireland as the birthplace of Halloween. The spooky, scary, mischievous and wild came out to run amok in the highly successful festival which took in much of the Boyne Valley region. Love Drogheda BIDS hosted an outdoor cinema in the historical Old Abbey ruins and delighted children and grown-ups alike with films of horror and intrigue. The team at Love Drogheda BIDS look forward to participating in the Púca festival in 2022.”
  • Festival Support-St Patrick’s Day (2020 onwards)
Even though there was no festival or parade for the St Patrick’s Day celebrations for two years during the pandemic lockdowns, Love Drogheda BIDS sponsored a ‘WindowDressing Competition’ and gave the winning trophy to Wool Works on West Street for their fantastic St Patrick’s Day themed window display. In 2022, we took part in the parade with a float showcasing the Love Drogheda Gift Card, as well as being one of the sponsors of the parade, alongside Wogan’s Build Centre andCoca Cola. Our ‘Window Dressing Competition’ was held again, with a massive number of businesses along the parade route and across the town taking part. In2022 we had a runner up for ‘Best Window’
